The SuperLambBanana
When
I first heard about the SuperLambBanana sculpture from a workmate I thought
it was a wind up. I mean really, it had to be a joke. A Lamb crossed with
a Banana?
But
no, it really is true. This 7.5 ton sculpture is rumored to have cost
£35,000 to create. Scaled up from the artist's original plasticine
model, it lurks on the main road past the Albert Dock. Presumably in the
hope of causing some kind of huge vehicular pile-up by taunting passing
cars with it's toxic yellow bulk.
I
honestly can't decide whether I loathe this as a ludicrous waste of money
or whether I have a grudging admiration for whoever was responsible for
coaxing out the 35k for this "artwork".
So, in homage to this beast, I present a couple of sequel sculptures I
knocked up from clay in the style of the original - the Amazing Beef Pineapple,
and the ever popular, Fantastic Pork Orange.
So
if anyone would like to give me 35K to create these "artworks"
on a grand scale, and a place to put them in Liverpool (preferably where
they can cause maximum irritation.) I'd be happy to knock summat up with
a spot of chickenwire and a splash of concrete and paint.
